History
The first Court House was in a barn of Martha Lower in Fairfield Township. The first session of the Common Pleas Court was held July 26, 1803 in this structure. Obadiah Jennings served as Prosecutor and John Crozer served as the first Sheriff.
The first Court House in Lisbon was of log construction and was erected on which the present Court House stands. The log jail served for forty years.
The first jail escape was accomplished by one MacKinrue, a horse thief, in 1804. George Duck became the County's first elected Sheriff in 1808
